Mac OSX: How to print
practica musica homework on
1 page, saving ink, staying legible and large
There are three screens 1. the back
screen with the pulldown menus, 2. the
front screen with the staff and 3. the keyboard
screen. All three must be visible when you print, but can be compressed so your
print outs only take 1 page, are legible and large enough for me to read. (courtesy of Frank P.)
- Resize
front screen, scroll up so staff is close to top,
and change font size of front screen. (click on little notes to the top
left of screen) This will maximize image size and minimize waste of space.
- Move
up the keyboard so that it overlaps the front screen (drag the portion of
the keyboard screen upwards so the keyboard is on it.
- Pull
down the front screen so the white of the front screen covers the back
screen (saves ink). Click on the keyboard to bring it to the front.
- Mac OS
X comes with built-in capability for capturing screen shots. To capture
the entire screen, press Command-Shift-3. To capture a region of
the screen, press Command-Shift-4, then click and drag the cursor to
mark the area you want to capture. When you lift your finger from the
mouse button, Mac OS X will record that real estate and place a .png file on your desktop. Add Control to the
two shortcuts above to place the screen shot on the clipboard instead of
saving it to the desktop. Command-Control-Shift-4
- To put
the images onto one page, open a word doc and expand the margins to within
a .5” of the outside. This will make the image larger. Paste your images
into the doc.
